I love this new clip from Prophet of Zod. It addresses the question, “Who are you to question God?”

His first two points tackle it perfectly. First, one of the values of science and the enlightenment that any idea should be questioned to test to see if it can stand up to scrutiny. Second, you aren’t questioning God, you’re questioning a human who claims to have been given information by God.

Religion (actually bad ideas in general) have many defense mechanisms. Instead of offering good arguments for their position, they have a set of strategies to avoid having to engage with the arguments against their position. Basically, they have ways of stopping the conversation to minimize the amount of new information that might come in that they have to deal with.
